Dr. Rick Forbus leads THE FIRST PRIORITY OF AMERICA non-profit enterprise with energy, enthusiasm, passion and sound business principles. He uses teambuilding techniques to increase creativity and to strengthen the national organization. Rick believes that the future of FIRST PRIORITY will see unprecedented growth to impact schools across America with the Gospel of Christ.

In years past, Dr. Richard (Rick) Kenneth Forbus has been a sought after executive coach, professional trainer and keynote speaker. Rick is a watercolor and oil artist, musician and fly fisherman. Rick loves the outdoors and he and his wife, Nancy, enjoy spending as much time as possible in the Western North Carolina Mountains and the Gulf Coast Panhandle of Florida. Two grown sons, two daughters-in-law and six grandchildren keep Rick and Nancy busy.  Rick declares, “Whenever possible, let’s enjoy this!”

Rick has led, most recently, a team of coaches, consultants, professional trainers and keynote speakers at Trove, Inc. which is an Atlanta based firm. He has maintained an active speaking engagement schedule and has been a highly sought-after corporate retreat and workshop facilitator. Rick Forbus has 25+ years of coaching, training, speaking and consulting experience. Rick specializes in organizational re-design using behavioral and community-based action research techniques. Rick and/or his team have coached, trained or given speeches in such organizations as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the US Army and Air Force, Cox, Manheim, Autotrader, Porter Novelli (an Omnicom Company), Holiday Retirement and Prudential. Rick has worked as a content provider in PMI Chapters around the country as speaker or trainer for Professional Development Days and general regional training. Rick has been a curriculum writer, blogger and author of a 2016 book entitled, Sensible Leadership. Rick gives his services to some non-profits and has traveled as far as Thailand to offer training and coaching to those who find it difficult to receive world-class leadership development.

Education

Rick holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Human Resource Management and Leadership. In addition, he has attended George Washington University’s continuing education for a “leadership in project management” course. Also, he has completed executive coaching training at CoachU, an internationally recognized executive coaching training company to be credentialed in Corporate Executive Coaching. Rick is a credentialed Birkman Assessment Consultant and continues to stay current with his Birkman training in advanced courses. Rick is skilled in the use of Pairin assessment, of which he and Nancy have invested in the company’s launch.

Skills

Rick has coached executives in the C-Suite and many leaders on various levels of organizations. His one-on-one coaching skills are highly polished and recognized in corporate, small business, non-profits and religious institutions as effective. His particular areas of expertise include team building, meeting dynamics, decision-making and communication.  It is estimated that Rick has coached, trained or spoken to approximately 46,000 people in his career, thus far.
